Oh yeah, I also remember as a kid, back in the 70s, hoping Armageddon wouldn't come before Star Trek made it to the big screen! Seriously!

Star Trek is awesome, isn't everyone a fan????
Seriously, not sure, maybe its because without realizing it, they are attracted by its vision of a better world - a "paradise" if you will, which is the same thing that probably drew them to the JWs in the first place.
I'll never forget an elder's wife and I were discussing Star Trek one day, she made some comment about how wonderful it would be if the future would be just like Star Trek.... I'm thinking, hey, we're JWs, what about a paradise erf, having big picnics every day and playing with lions and bears, I thought that's what we were all hoping and wishing for.

i knew of a handful (which is too many) that were molested by a jehovah's witness.
it was not typical in my experience.
what about you???.
Yes.

most already know that watchtower corp atty phil brumley uses a patterson, ny address as his residence.
using google maps, 131 brimstone road, patterson ny is starting to shape up into a veritable mansion.
maybe they are planning another rutherford (also an atty) style beth sharim but this time close to wallkill?.
Again note the double standard at work, r&f JWs strongly discouraged from pursuing an education, meanwhile headquarters sends Bethelites to Law School.

as far as i can remember i have never seen any counter argument from the wts in refuting this scripture in any of it's publications.
they call themselves the elijah class, the jonnadab class, the greater david, the faithful &wise servant, the governing body, the faithful and discreet slave(lol) etc, and even by their own admission's they have been wrong when their light got brighter in making bible prophesies, the failed prophesies of 1874,1914,1919,1935,1975 and the recent lies and failed prophesies concerning the generation and the cut off date for anointed christians of 1935, show this.
so the passage from deut is clearly very serious if those who have spoken in gods name things that have failed to come true, the bottom line is death to that prophet , pure and simple.
Billy, you got it exactly right, thet are imperfect, fallible men, but you better agree with everything they say, or else!!
Oh, and that quote about JW's demonstrating true love for one another is a joke. Here's a real simple example of the "Brotherly love" of theirs. Go down to one of their conventions bright and early some day, watch how they stampede over each other when the doors open so they can stake out the best seats. Its a wonder no one have been trampled on yet.

hey, i was wondering if anyone else is going to the cjjw in rochester, mn next year.

i finally saw that november 15th wt article on prayer that everyone has been talking about - the people in the photos look as stiff as corpses!.
people will be called in the back room for inadvertantly making contact with their spouse during prayer.. i think i will adopt the following stance during prayer now:.
.
Angel Eyes,
If you don't like hints and like things to be spelled out, you must have a hard time being a JW. For example, there is no rule that sisters must wear skirts or dresses to meetings, have you ever shown up wearing slacks? Is your husband a JW? Does he have a beard?
I'm sure others here can easily think up many other unwritten(yet strictly enforced) JW rules.

i don't know if this one was posted, but i thought you might want to see what kind of garbage they tell the young ones.. stop missing meetings, stop setting college and career goals.
run for jehovah:.

Its a parody, I think? look at brother Dempsey's page on Youtube.
About Me:
Shortly after i finished painting Brother Fiseks fence i was promoted to the great priviledge of doing sound for Jehovah. After i installed my swimming pool and became more popular in the congregation i was promoted to Ministerial Servant.Everybody who doesnt sell watchtowers will be slaughtered by the god of love jehovah !! My goal is to become an Elder and eventually go to Bethel :D Agape

quite recently, watchtower in sweden applied for governmental financial support, as they are entitled to as a registered religious community.
however, the government declined to accept the application, stating that the reason was that the jws do not adhere to democratic values and standards and do not support mainstream values.. the witnesses are upset, because they feel discriminated against.
they state that the financial issue is not the real issue, but to be treated in a similar way as other religious communities.. they have appealed the decision and plan to send a report explaining the witnesses views in more detail.. the branch office chose the religious, pentecostal (assembly of god) newspaper "dagen" to make an interview.. here is the photo report of the article.. .
I hate to sound like a Watchtower advocate here, but keep in mind this is not government money that is going to the Watchtower, its money that individuals are paying in to the government to distribute to the religions. If X% of the money came from adherents of religion Y, then religion Y gets that percentage of the money.
If they are not going to give the Watchtower their share of the money, then JWs should not be required to pay the money into the government in the first place.

this is from an e-mail site (and yes, i think it is as ludicrous as the rest of you will).
just passing on a quick thought.... .
maybe most of you are aware of the situation in honduras, a central america little country.
That email sounds completely fabricated.
Especially when the author claims to have questioned the GB's decision, and then actually runs ahead of them by saying "let's all start family worship!"
I have to be honest, I was like "why?"
So the question in my mind now is - why have to wait for persecution? Let's make the family worship a habit right now! :-)
No current JW talks like that. No JW actually spends that much time thinking about what to do, they just obey.
